Turning Food Waste into Green Solutions with Residents of Tiong Bahru East

11 Jan 2025

Holocene recently hosted a workshop to educate residents about tackling food waste through circular economy principles. The event empowered participants to take action through composting and innovative waste reduction methods, transforming waste into valuable community resources.

Creating a Sustainable System Through Circular Economy

We introduced the concept of circular economy, where materials are reused and recycled to create a sustainable system, and showed how this concept can be applied to food waste. Participants learned effective composting techniques to transform food scraps into nutrient-rich soil for healthier plants. The workshop also showcased the benefits of community gardens, demonstrating how food waste not only nourishes the earth but also contributes to future food production.

At Holocene, we believe small actions catalyze big changes, and we’re proud to support the community of Tiong Bahru East in adopting greener habits. This workshop marks just the beginning of our journey to empower communities to reduce waste, grow green, and build a more sustainable future.
