Laying the Foundation for a Circular Economy and Active Green Citizenry:
SG Eco Fund Workshop with Tiong Bahru SCEC
28 Feb 2024
Did you know – soil is a major source of nutrients needed by plants for growth?
Ensuring good soil quality is key to supply essential nutrients, water, oxygen and root support for plants to grow and flourish.
Exploring the potential of food waste upcycling into edible greens
In February, under our First Penguin Volunteerism programme, Holocene kicked off the first of a four-part workshop with Tiong Bahru SCEC, supported by SG Eco Fund. Residents were able to appreciate the foundational aspects of how to upcycle food waste into organic compost to grow edible greens, and how good soil plays a critical role.
Participants were enthusiastic in learning the key components of community gardening and food waste upcycling, and we anticipate the day where they get to grow and harvest their very own edible greens!
