Ringing in a Greener Lunar New Year with Food Waste Upcycling and Community Gardening!
9 Feb 2025
Over the Lunar New Year weekend, Holocene hosted an engaging workshop that united the Tiong Bahru East community to learn about food waste upcycling, circular economy practices, and community gardening. The event successfully combined sustainability with festive celebration, with many residents gathering to discover ways to contribute to a greener future.
From Scraps to Sustainability
While food waste remains a pressing concern in Singapore, our workshop demonstrated practical ways to turn kitchen scraps into valuable resources like compost. Through food waste upcycling, participants discovered how they could not only reduce waste at home but also contribute to a more sustainable community.
A Festive Start to a Greener Year
In the spirit of the Lunar New Year, this workshop transcended typical education —it became a celebration of renewal, growth, and sustainability. Given the enthusiasm and dedication shown by participants, we’re optimistic about watching these green practices flourish throughout the year!
